Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in an ODI series for the first time in history. Sri Lanka before the 2nd ODI begins was pretty confident of their victory and challenged hard. Sri Lanka fought very well but lost in the end.
In the first match of a 3 match, ODI series clinched victory Bangladesh against Sri Lanka by a margin of 33 runs. This time the margin of victory for Bangladesh is even bigger. Bangladesh won over Sri Lanka by 103 runs in the Duckworth Lewis method yesterday and claims the crown of the series with one match to spare.
No other time in history Bangladesh has done it. It is undoubtedly a big achievement for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh could only bat for 48.1 overs as they got all out scoring 246. Sri Lanka was desperately seeking victory but could not build any sort of resistance against the aggressive Bangladeshi bowlers. No Srilankan Batsman could even score a 50.
The highest scorer for SriLanka was Danuska Guntilaka with 24 runs beside his name. Gunatilaka-Nishanka’s partnership with 29 runs was the highest partnership for Sri Lanka. Bangladeshi bowlers did throw a real challenge for the SriLankan Batsman. 3 wickets for each Mehedi Hasan Miraj and Mustafizur Rahman. 2 wickets for Sakib Al Hasan.
Rain was inevitable and the game was paused and delayed few times for the rain. Bangladeshi Batting was affected by the rain. In the Sri lankan Innings, the game was paused again for the rain by the end of 38th over. Sri lanka was standing at 126 with 9 wickets gone. Duck Worth Lewis announced it needs 119 runs in two overs.
Sri lanka scored 141 in 9 wickets and Bangladesh won by a massive 103 runs in the second ODI. This victory went on the history as Bangladesh won a series against Sri Lanka for the first time in history.
Final and the 3rd ODI will take place at the Sher E Bangla Stadium Mirpur this Friday.
